Latest Experimental 6-Hour Blowing Snow Index (click to enlarge)
This scale is intended to approximate blowing snow severity during periods of falling snow. A scale value is assigned based upon the amount of snow, maximum wind gust, and minimum visibility forecast in each 6-hour period. It DOES NOT account for snow already on the ground.
It is valid when at least 1" of snow is forecast somewhere in Erie County in a given 6-hour period. Periods 1-4 update hourly, while Period 5 updates every 6 hours.
